Ride 2: Sellaronda Loop

31 mi - 5643 ft+ (51 km – 1720 m D+)

We dive right into action today with the legendary Sellaronda loop, circling the iconic Sella mountain massif. This route will take you up four of the Dolomites' most famous climbs: Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, and Passo Campolongo. Thousands of people come out every year for this grand classic. It’s a simple equation: uphill or downhill, with breathtaking views at every turn. This is the scenery that will be surrounding us for the next days, so take it all in and remember: it's true! You're finally riding the Dolomites!

45.5 mi - 7316 ft D+ (73.3 km - 2230 m D+)

Today's ride brings us back up into the hearth of the Dolomites, on certainly one of the most scenic routes possible.
The first climb today will be Passo Falzarego, a challenge, but with more gentle gradients. After a sweeping descent we'll tackle the second main climb of our day. With some pitches that go in the double digits Passo Giau will definitely be a challenge. The reward will be clear once you reach the top: spectacular rocks faces and mountain pastures that will have you under a spell! Take it easy on the descent, it's a pretty steep one, take it easy and enjoy the views.

Climbs:

-Passo Falzarego (11 km at 6.2%)

-Passo Giau (9 km at 8.1%)

We ease into the ride today with a pleasant descent before we tackle our big challenge: Passo Fedaia. A staple of the Giro, this climb will require steady effort (with a steep 18% max on a short section). The payoff is worth it as you’re rewarded with incredible views of the Marmolada glacier towering above Fedaia Lake. To wrap up the day, we’ll climb Passo Pordoi again, but from the opposite direction.

The main climb today will be Passo Costalunga, a gradual ascent that opens up to a scenic plateau. A steep descent brings us to Bolzano, where we’ll ride along the Adige River cycleway, heading towards our hotel for the night. The last ride of our trip. A legendary finish. A beautiful loop starting off on a smooth the smooth bike path of the Valtellina down to Mazzo. This is where the tough part starts: the climb that brought Marco Pantani into the Olympus of cycling myth. 12 km at 10% with peaks of 20%, no joking around on this one. Hi five when you've reached the top: you're a legend! We descend into Valcamonica and then head for the last and perhaps one of the most beautiful climbs of all: Passo Gavia. Starting in Ponte di Legno, we'll reach the top after countless tornanti that wind up through the forest and reach the magnificent views over some crystal clear mountain lakes.
